Meet John Lee - Piano Teacher
John Lee is a pianist, collaborative artist, and music teacher based in the Pacific Northwest. His musical activities and aspirations are diverse: He teaches students of all ages and levels among various institutions, and he frequently collaborates with both young musicians and performing artists. Recognizable through his wide range of sound and color, he frequently appears as a soloist in concert series and recitals. His performances, many of them in prominent venues, have been broadcasted live on Seattle’s King FM 98.1 and Cleveland’s WCLV.
Mr. Lee established his presence in the state of Washington by receiving many accolades for his artistic talent. He was a recipient of the Margaret L. Sparling Scholarship for his pre-college studies at the Seattle Conservatory of Music, and thereafter received top scholarships from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and the Cleveland Institute of Music. He is a laureate of the Venetia Hall Concerto Competition, the MTNA Divisional, the Darius Milhaud Performance Prize, and the CIM Concerto Competition. He has also participated in numerous master classes.
In the summer of 2010, he toured with the National Repertory Orchestra as the Orchestra Pianist in Breckenridge, Colorado, subsequently performing Beethoven’s Fourth Piano Concerto as the soloist in the final concert. His teachers include Michiko Miyamoto, Robert Shannon, and Sergei Babayan, under whom he served as studio assistant.
