Meet Aaron - Piano Teacher

Aaron has been immersed in music since childhood, and has had the opportunity to be exposed to a wide variety of teaching methods throughout his musical education. Participating in group music lessons from the age of three and studying piano at the age of five gave him the foundation for his future experiences performing jazz music across Europe, Japan, as well as venues in the United States including Lincoln Center in New York City. Aaron has performed in a variety of contexts as a pianist, including the nationally acclaimed Roosevelt High School jazz band, as a vocal accompanist, and as a solo performer.

As part of the Roosevelt High School jazz band Aaron was able to take part in a tour of Europe in the summer of 2018, performing at venues including the Montreux Jazz Festival, Jazz à Vienne, the Paris Jazz Festival, and the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam among others. During his time with the band he also was recognized as an Outstanding Soloist at the Essentially Ellington Festival and Competition, a national big band jazz competition hosted by Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra in New York. His band received the top prize at the competition in 2019, placing first among 15 big bands chosen from throughout the United States.

After receiving a full tuition scholarship from Berklee College of Music, he decided to continue his music education under pianists including NEA Jazz Master Joanne Brackeen, composer Eric Gould, and Downbeat Rising Star Yoko Miwa, allowing him to experience a broad spectrum of teaching styles and methodologies. At the college Aaron had the opportunity to take courses specifically tailored towards pedagogy and private instruction, giving him a better understanding of how to approach teaching students of all ages and experience levels.

Aaron is currently based in Seattle, Washington and is active as a performer and educator in the area. He is currently recording and producing an EP with his sister Tessa Korver, a jazz vocalist studying at Oberlin Conservatory of Music, to be released in 2025. He is excited to be serving the community he grew up in, sharing what he has learned throughout his own musical journey.
