Meet Jordan - Piano and Voice Teacher
Jordan Kinder is a mezzo-soprano and pianist from Southwest Missouri. She is currently pursuing a masters degree with an emphasis in Kodály Methodology from the University of Central Missouri. Jordan has been teaching private lessons since 2009. She received a bachelor’s in Vocal Music Education with an Instrumental Endorsement in piano and clarinet from Missouri State University in May 2016. Since graduating from MSU, Jordan has taught a variety of ages and classes with students of varying backgrounds. At the secondary level, Jordan taught a variety of choral classes, music appreciation, and piano class. The past few years Jordan has focused on teaching elementary music, most recently teaching K-4 general music for Nixa Public Schools in Nixa, Missouri. Jordan will be an itinerant music teacher for Highline Public Schools this year.
Jordan is sought out as an accompanist for many ensembles. Currently, she is the accompanist for the Prima and Prelude choirs for Bellevue Youth Choirs. While at Nixa, Jordan accompanied various solo and small ensembles for the band and choir programs, theatre productions and rehearsals, and ensembles of all age groups. Jordan has been singing her entire life, starting in church sitting next to her grandmother, where she learned to harmonize. From there, she took voice lessons in college and has spent the last five years singing with the Mid America Singers of Springfield, Missouri.
Jordan is a big believer in music being a joyful experience and a way to express emotions. As her voice teacher once said, “Life is too short to sing songs you don’t like.” Jordan focuses on learning proper technique using music that brings students joy.
