Meet Tina - Piano Teacher

I have over 20 years of experience in piano performance, accompaniment, and education. I was honored to be invited and played at various occasions such as weddings, funerals, birthday or anniversary events. My passion for music started in my childhood when growing up and being able to play my favorite movie theme songs on piano, which brought me much joy. I was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. My family noticed my liking of singing with TV commercials and let me start learning piano at 5 years old.

Coming to the United States at age of 13, I joined the school band by playing flute, and also learned to play cello. My piano education continued as I had the pleasure to study under Dianne Chilgren, a piano soloist at the Pacific Northwest Ballet. I joined the Seattle Youth Symphony as a cellist and competed piano in the Seattle Young Artist Music Festival and appreciated the competitions, however, music doesn’t have to be competitive, it should be fun while learning and playing.

I started to teach piano and accompany the students at the age of 18. I always encourage the students, young and old, to look at music as an enjoyment, not a competition. Music should be embraced at every level, regarded as a happiness in life, not as a source of stress. Performing with the Seattle local art groups, such as Zhenlun Li Cello Studios, has broadened my view in music performance and celebration. My teaching experience has taught me that students who enjoy the learning of music show more improvement and personal growth. Accompanying my students at competitions and performances makes me very proud, and to watch them express themselves in music brings me great satisfaction. As a teacher, I want to help my students to find the same enjoyment as I did. I will be very pleased to be part of your learning process.
