Meet Nathan - Piano, Voice, & Guitar Teacher
If you can talk, then you can sing! Nathan is an encouraging, friendly and experienced voice, piano and guitar instructor teaching in the Greater Seattle region. Nathan constantly reminds his students that talent is not a prerequisite for being musical. Nathan has worked with young students all the way to retirees, including numerous high school and college-aged students. Some have been right at the beginning of their musical life, while others have been pursuing majors or minors in music. In addition to private teaching, he was the instructor of “Intro to Singing” at Washington State University, a college class of 20 students who learned how to explore their voices in a healthy manner.
As a young tenor, Nathan Straub has sung at many summer festivals including Utah Lyric Opera, Opera Viva! in Verona, Italy, and the Cornish American Song Institute in Oxford, England. His recent roles include Count Danilo from The Merry Widow, Marco from The Gondoliers, Mal from The Addams Family, Eisenstein from Die Fledermaus, and Enoch Snow from Carousel. As a supporter of contemporary works, he has debuted Saoirse by Lindsay Greene, Psalm 7 by Travis Mallett, and Archipelago by James Campbell. Nathan has a Master of Arts in Music and Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Washington State University.
During his free time, Nathan enjoys rock climbing, listening to Weezer, watching The Office with his wife and dog, and experimenting with his own voice to find cool new ways of making sound!
